Evaluation

Evaluation helps organizations recognize what they have done well and what areas need improvement. The process of evaluation involves measuring the impact of programs and practices to understand their effectiveness and any need for change. Evaluation efforts therefore greatly influence the future planning of a program. It can also impact sustainability, because evaluation can show sponsors that resources are being used wisely.
Tools: Tools to assist with evaluation efforts:
Prevention Platform: A comprehensive tool for designing an outcome or process evaluation and identifying data collection strategies.

Prevention Pathways: Technical assistance to answer questions related to evaluation, assist with planning evaluation efforts, and identify data collection instruments.

CADCA Coalition Institute: A goal of the National Coalition Institute is the widespread use of standards for evaluation and research to improve the effectiveness of anti-drug coalitions across the United States.

CSAP Services Accountability and Monitoring System (CSAMS): CSAMS supports CSAP grantee data collection and reporting activities and provides related accountability and performance information to future grantees, current grantees/contractors, researchers, and SAMHSA/CSAP staff through a single Web site.
