Bob Stephenson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, (B.S. '64) and his Masters of Public Health (M.P.H. '81) from Johns Hopkins University, School of Hygiene and Public Health.

Bob has over 30 years of Federal service, and has been a part of the national workplace team in the Department since late 1989. He is the Director, Division of Workplace Programs (DWP), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. As Director, Bob leads oversight of the Drug-Free Federal Workplace, the National Laboratory Certification Program and the related liaison with the regulated industry programs in the Department of Transportation, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

He has coordinated a range of federal criminal justice related knowledge development efforts, including hair analysis projects with NIDA, NIST and NIJ. Prior to returning to the Washington area in 1989, he had overseen federal, state, and local criminal justice, immigration programs in Dade County (Miami) Florida, and assembled and administered a large government forensic DUI/DUID laboratory, combining resources previously part of the Medical Examiner's and County Police crime lab functions. He has also introduced and developed Geographic Information System (GIS) resources that have been provided to over 300 communities, 20 states, and numerous other Federal users, including the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
