Peggy is the Director of the Division of Community Programs for the lead federal agency on drug abuse prevention, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), one of three centers within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in Washington, DC.

In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing CSAP’s discretionary grant programs and services for communities including the Substance Abuse, HIV, & Hepatitis Prevention for Minority Populations and Reentry Populations in Communities of Color, the Drug Free Communities Support Program, the Prevention of Methamphetamine Abuse grants, the Fetal Alcohol Center for Excellence and the Older Americans Technical Assistance Center. Together, these programs represent over $120 million of federal support for local substance abuse prevention services.

Prior to joining CSAP, Peggy provided leadership in the substance abuse field for more than twenty years in Missouri beginning as a community coalition volunteer. Highlights of her work include; service as a county DARE officer, National Guard Demand Reduction Administrator, and Executive Director for a statewide drug abuse prevention leadership organization, ACT Missouri. Peggy was also instrumental in creating the Missouri Recovery Network and energizing members of the recovery community to take action in reducing stigma and promoting community-wide recovery support services. Her passion in this field continues to be supporting youth efforts to reduce underage drinking and drug use.

Nationally, Peggy has been an active resource for others in this field by providing technical assistance and training with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, PRIDE and the Southwest Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies.

Her formal education includes a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration, a Masters degree in Aviation Safety and she is a Certified Substance Abuse Prevention Professional.
