Anna Marsh, Ph.D.
Acting Director
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention
Dr. Anna Marsh is the Acting Director for the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS). For the past year, Dr. Marsh has been Acting Director of SAMHSA’s Office of Applied Studies (OAS). She has worked for SAMHSA and its predecessor agency, the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration, since 1985. Her position of record is as Executive Officer of SAMHSA and Director of the Office of Program Services (OPS). She has served as: Deputy Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT); Acting Deputy Director of the Center for Mental Health Services; Director of the Division of Administrative Services in OPS; Deputy Director of OAS; and Chief of the Quality Assurance and Evaluation Branch in the Division of State Assistance at CSAT. She also worked in the Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP’s predecessor organization), the National Institute of Mental Health, and St. Elizabeths Hospital. Dr. Marsh received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Yale University, where she was a Fellow at the Bush Center in Child Development and Social Policy. She received her B.A. in Psychology from George Washington University.
